Every miniature and project is different, and I always paint to the best of my ability, so I don't have different 'levels' of painting like many commission painters and larger services do. Many of these places are staffed with large teams using airbrushes, and the level of output work and consistency that they do results in an altogether different type of paint look, and is best reserved for large armies. I always paint miniatures that would be excellent for both display and for tabletop use.
When it comes down to it I quote a project based on the amount of time I believe it will take for me to achieve, as well as factor in any materials cost that may go into it (specialized paint or basing materials, for instance). I try to pay myself a living wage of around $17-20 an hour, and so my work is probably best reserved for single hero miniatures or display pieces, or smaller squads rather than entire armies.
I'm always happy to provide basic basing for miniatures in the form of simple sand, grass, etc. free as part of the basic completion of the miniatures, as well as paint the rims to your choice of color and add a brush on sealant to protect them to make sure you can display or use them for gentle tabletop play safely for years.
If you would like a more complicated scenic base or larger display base this will affect price but I am happy to discuss and work to make your mini the best it can be. If you would like me to assemble your miniature(s) or make adjustments to kits I will charge a small assembly fee. for Miniature kits that come with scenic bases I will factor that generally into the overall painting quote and consider is part of the 'miniature'.
